We have two exciting weeks coming up! I have gathered the information for you all. Please notice that Thanksgiving week there is no school so the schedule does look different. Even in this crazy season we have so much to be thankful for. I am so thankful for the games we have gotten to play so far and the games to come. I am thankful for your players and all the things the Lord is teaching them. I am thankful for our coaching staff and their faithful investment on and off the field. I am thankful to be a part of this great Metro community. I am thankful that God is always faithful. Constant. Good. We have seen that play out this season and He is still working!

Team News:
We have hired Harrison Blake to finish the season as our OL Coach. He knows most of the kids and the Metro system and should be a great fit! Harrison is having to balance his college classes for the next couple of weeks through Thanksgiving. Please pray for him as he pulls double duty and begins helping our guys to continue to find success on the field.

Coaches and Players,

We are hoping and planning to compete for the next 6 weeks in the playoffs. With six weeks left, none of us would think it would be okay to quit preparing physically (to stop all conditioning and all weight training). None of us, I hope, would think that we already know enough about our potential opponents and about how to run our plays so that we don’t need to practice or prepare any further. In a greater way – it is imperative that we continue to grow together spiritually. It is the desire of our coaches that we play this game differently than others – that we play in a way that finds great joy in this game but that honors the Lord and brings Him glory. Join me in reading through the Proverbs over the next 6 weeks side by side to that end.

Playoffs Week 1 - Read Proverbs 1; Proverbs 2; Proverbs 3; Proverbs 4; Proverbs 5

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 3:3 “Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.”

Playoffs Week 2- Read Proverbs 6; Proverbs 7; Proverbs 8; Proverbs 9; Proverbs 10

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 10:2 “Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death.”

Playoffs Week 3-Read Proverbs 11; Proverbs 12; Proverbs 13; Proverbs 14; Proverbs 15

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 12:19 “Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”

State Quarterfinals Week-Read Proverbs 16; Proverbs 17; Proverbs 18; Proverbs 19; Proverbs 20

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 19:17 “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed.”

State Semi-Finals Week-Read Proverbs 21; Proverbs 22; Proverbs 23; Proverbs 24; Proverbs 25

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 22:1 "A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold."

State Championship Week-Read Proverbs 26; Proverbs 27; Proverbs 28; Proverbs 29; Proverbs 30

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 26:18-19 “Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I am only joking!”

Amen."

Please continue to pray for the players, coaches and staff this week as we continue on this journey to defend our state title. Please continue to pray for Coach Hilliard. God is still at work and we can trust that He is forever faithful. I look forward to seeing what all that He has in store! Our verse this year for our playoffs magnet is Joshua 1:9: Be Strong and Courageous. The Lord your God is with you wherever you go. May the Lord show himself to our team in a mighty way as He continues to lead and guide them in the weeks to come. This past Thursday morning I was praying over the team and I thought it would be so good to lift their spirits with a special surprise. It had been a hard week. The Lord then reminded me that Ms. Randie was already on it! Ms. Randie Graves has been in charge of our spirit bags this year that are given to our players after practice on Thursdays. It is a little bag filled with goodies to encourage our players. I love that the Lord already had this taken care of. I love that so many of you parents are stepping in to serve and love on this team. Thank you for loving one another and serving one another! To God be the glory!

A special shout out to Charlie's Chicken for donating a meal to our players this week! Thank you Charlie's Chicken for supporting Metro Football!
